Welcome to Huka Lodge
We invite you to enter a world where elegant and
generous hospitality meets sophistication and style
- creating a welcoming haven, whose reputation and
awards are richly deserved.
Founded in the 1920s, Huka Lodge is considered to be
the iconic New Zealand retreat. Sought by the
world’s most discerning travellers – enjoying an
unrivalled riverside location, offering superb
hospitality and an attentiveness as palpable as the
force of the Waikato River itself.
The Lodge
Enter through the gates of Huka Lodge and
immediately begin to leave the real world behind. As
guests journey the length of the drive and encounter
the park-life grounds, a feeling of peace and
tranquillity begins to gently envelop them.
That very first glimpse of the deep turquoise green
waters of the Waikato River brings further
affirmation of the potential that awaits.
The Lodge & Environs
Experience crisp clear air, birdsong, dew on the
forest floor, 17-acres of perfect peace and quiet
and attentiveness to your needs as palpable as the
force of the mighty river itself.
The Lodge grounds are extensively planted and blend
seamlessly into the bordering Wairakei Park Reserve
beyond. Lovingly nurtured and manicured, they
enclose a tennis court, a heated swimming pool, spa
pools, petanque and croquet courts as well as many a
quiet secluded corner to contemplate nature at its
most bountiful and generous.
Families
Families with children are welcome at Huka Lodge and
you will find their needs are well provided for. The
Lodge Suite and both the private cottages are
particularly suited to family holidays.
Children under five years of age are complimentary
when sharing a room with their parents. One child is
permitted per room. Escort Rooms are also available
to accommodate children.
Please note that children under 16 years of age are
unable to attend pre-dinner drinks in the main Lodge
or dine in the dining room. We offer a large variety
of private dining venues for families and are able
to arrange baby sitters for younger children, so

Dining & Cuisine
Cuisine continues to define the iconic nature of the
hospitality experience at Huka Lodge. Over the years
Huka Lodge has been fortunate to have had many
outstanding chefs, cooking superb food for its guests.
The tradition of generous and fine hospitality is deeply
embedded within the Huka Lodge philosophy and the
quality of this bears testament to our commitment.
The
Main Lodge building draws guests like bees to honey. It
is from here that having breakfasted well, guests either
set off for adventure, or settle in a comfortable chair
with a book beside a log fire.
Come evening, candles are lit, lights dimmed and the
drinks set out. Guests gather to make each other’s
acquaintance, share stories of their day and enjoy the
superb cuisine, prepared using the finest of ingredients
and complemented by exceptional wines. Service is both
solicitous and seamless, designed to anticipate.
